Finley

Finley are an Italian pop punk band, formed in Milan in 2000. The band is made up of four guys from Legnano, a town near Milan. The band got its name from NBA star Michael Finley. The four members of the band chose the name because they thought it had a cool sound, even if though they weren't into basketball that much. They used to call themselves a "HardPop" band, some others said their genre is Pop punk or Soft Punk, but actually their genre is a mixture between Pop and Rock. Their way of making music changed during their career, throughout which they have sung in both Italian and English. In 2006, the group won in the category Best Italian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006 in Copenhagen. On 14 April 2007 they won in the category Italians Do It Better, Best Lacrima Awards and Best Number One Of The Year at the MTV TRL Awards (Italy) 2007.

Finley released their single "Fumo e cenere" on Total Request Live on 24 November 2006; in the same year, they released a DVD+CD combo of all their works.

The band is particularly active on the road. They were on tour non-stop in 2006, putting on over the year over sixty concerts all around Italy.

In 2008, they once again won in the category Best Italian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008.

Band members

  • Marco Pedretti, known as Pedro - born in Magenta, Italy, 22 September 1985 - Lead vocals.
  • Carmine Ruggiero, known as Ka - Castellammare di Stabia, 30 May 1985 - Guitars & Vocals.
  • Stefano Mantegazza, known as Ste - Saronno 7 August 1985 - Bass & Vocals.
  • Danilo Calvio, known as Dani - Cerignola, 17 October 1985 - Drums & Vocals.

Career

The band started with Danilo Calvio, aka Dani, who used to play pop with Ka (Carmine Ruggiero) in a basement in Legnano, while Ste (Stefano Mantegazza) and Pedro (Marco Pedretti), who had known each other since childhood, used to play Grunge music. In 2000 Dani, Ka and Pedro met each other at university where they had classes together, while Ste is a childhood friend of Pedro who eventually met the others. In 2002 the four formed Finley and started performing in competitions, parties and auditions. In 2004 they recorded a demo of "Make Up Your Own Mind" and a low budget video and in 2005 they came into contact with Claudio Cecchetto. He helped them debut by signing their single with Capitol/EMI, "Tutto è possibile," the Italian version of "Make Up Your Own Mind." Their album of the same name was released on 31 March 2006. All the songs on the album were composed by Finley and the musical production was contracted to Daniele Persoglio.

In May, they worked with Mondo Marcio for Dentro alla scatola. In June they were on stage for Jamming Festival 2006 and opened the concert on the first day (Guest Star: Depeche Mode). "Diventerai una star" is their second single. Finley participated at various summer shows of Festivalbar earning an invitation to participate also to the finals which were held in Verona. In September, they released "Sole di settembre" as a CD Single with video.

Their concert at Jesolo for Coca Cola Live was aired on MTV during prime time. They won the award for best Italian Music Video in the newcomers category in 2006 and in November they won the Best Italian Act Award at the MTV Europe Music Awards held in Copenhagen. For the opening of the Italian version of Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards, Finley wrote and performed the theme song. Part of their CLUB TOUR 2006/2007, was organised by Barley Arts. Initially 15 concerts were planned, this number was then doubled. This also doubled the publicity received by the band. Through its sales it became a Gold Disc and then a Platinum Disc. In January they concluded the tour "Tutto è possibile 2006/2007", after some months out of the limelight, on 14 April, they attended the TRL Awards (Italy) 2007 and performed their new single Niente da perdere.

In 2008, they joined the Sanremo Music Festival and managed to get the fifth position. After the Festival, a new album of theirs, Adrenalina 2, came out, and it became a Platinum Disc only after a few weeks.

During the Adrenalina 2 tour, held in the 2008, they played new versions of their songs, such as "Per Sempre" (For Ever), which was played unplugged.

They also performed a cover, Iris by Goo Goo Dolls and a dance version of "Questo Sono Io" (Italian version of "All I've got"). During November 2009 a new mini-album entitled "Band at Work" was released: in February-March 2010 their fourth album will be released.Discography

Sonohra

Sonohra is an Italian duo constituted by the brothers Diego and Luca Fainello, native to the city of Verona. They were winners of the edition 2008 of the Young section of Festival of Sanremo.

Biography

Luca and Diego Fainello are two brothers who were born in an artists' family in Verona, Italy. Their father was an artistic photographer and bass guitar player in a band, their mother was a singer and their grandfather, violinist, entrusting to the boys an infallible tool. This formation from house materialized in the Academy of Art of Verona. Luca, being the oldest, was the first one in seriously choosing music as a path to be followed. His decision in a certain way was the biggest catalyst for Diego, gradually taking him in the same direction. At first they were known under the name 2ttO when they sung the theme song of the program UFO Baby and that way they published a single called Grido e Canto. Then more mature, with 24 and 20 years, they change their name into 'Domino' and recorded the song "Come tu mi vuoi", before publishing their first music video. They also used to play in bars of their hometown Verona songs of musicians like Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, B.B. King, Dire Straits, among others.

In 2007 an English girl on a tour in Venice inspired Luca to write the lyrics to the song L'amore, which was produced by Roberto Tini. With this one they entered the Sanremo Festival in 2008 (now with the name Sonohra), a contest of Italian music from the city of San Remo in the "Giovani" (Newcomers) category and the night of their presentation Sonohra gave a performance as if it was their last spectacle. And before the festival was concluded, the two brothers turned out to be crowned “Best artist revelation”, giving place to an explosion of popularity difficult to articulate. On February 29, 2008 their album Liberi da sempre was published, sending Luca and Diego in a gigantic tour along Italy.

After winning in the category Best New Artist on May 15, 2008 in the TRL Awards (2008) in Naples, on the following day their second single,of their debut album, Love Show was launched. Finally, the third single Salvami was published on September 5. The song talks about a good friend that the brothers lost in a traffic accident, sending a very strong message against drinking and driving.

They also won in the categories Best Band and Best New Act in the Italian Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards (for which they did the theme song with Love Show changing the lyrics) and in the MTV Europe Music Awards they were named in the category of Best Italian Act.

In November, 2008 their first CD/DVD Live was published with the name Sweet Home Verona. It was filmed on September 6 in the Roman Theater in Verona. The songs in this CD/DVD are accompanied only by chordophones and violins. The DVD placed them suddenly in first place of the Italian DVD-Charts and also between the Top 30 of the Album - market forecast.

On March 17, 2009 Libres was published in Latin America, the Spanish version of the album Liberi da sempre. They made a big effort, since they are only fluent in Italian. Recording in Spanish represented a real challenge, forcing them to train and be able to get connected in a vocal and emotional level in a foreign language. The first launched single of the album was Besos Faciles, the version in Spanish of the song Love Show with three Bonus Tracks: L'amore (Italian), Io e te(Italian) and Love Show (English). With this album the duo reached the following positions in the lists of Latin America: Costa Rica (#10), Mexico (#25), ArgentinaChile (#79). For the presentation and promotion of their album they traveled on March 22 to Latin America and gave concerts in almost all the countries (Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Mexico and the United States, among others). (#35) and

On May 14 they traveled back home to Italy and received in the TRL Awards 2009 in Trieste (in which they played the English version of their song Io e te) the award in the category Best square-filler (Riempipiazza). On June 30, 2009 Sonohra organized a benefit concert at Carpi (Modena) to help the victims of the earthquake in Abruzzo.

During their second visti to Latin America, in July and August 2009, they collaborated with the Mexican singer Yuridia on the song "Todas Las Noches". This song is on her album "Nada es color de rosa", which was released October 13, 2009. The also visited Brazil for the first time to promote their Brazilian Album "Love Show", an album containing Italian songs and songs translated into English from their debut CD "Liberi da Sempre". Their success in Latin America soon paid off, on October 15, 2009 they won the Best New Artist award at the Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica, becoming the first Italians to win at the ceremony.

On September 24, 2009 Sonohra left for London to record their second album. They are recording their album in Abbey Road Studio, the same studio used by the Beatles. Though working on their second album, they still continue to promote their debut album in other countries. On December 2, 2009 they will release a CD "L'Amore" in Japan. This CD, similar to their Brazilian CD, will include Italian songs and songs translated into English from their debut CD "Liberi da Sempre". It also will include a never before released song called "Fiore di Neve", a cover of the Japanese song "Yuki no Hana".
